Tyler's Trees General Manager Position

Title: General Manager – New York City (this is a seasonal contract position)

Tyler’s Trees, LLC (www.tylerstrees.com) is a New York City based small business founded in 2008 by two sports marketing professionals who discovered a niche market during the holiday season.  The premise is simple:  Provide the ease and convenience that New Yorkers expect during Christmas through the seamless delivery of Christmas trees and it’s fixings.


Tyler’s Trees is a upscale “white glove” Christmas Tree delivery service which strives to deliver the best service while spreading holiday cheer, one tree at a time.   Each customer receives the following benefits:  Live fresh Frasier Fir, delivery, tree set‐up, tree stand and a tree skirt.


Position Description:

Responsible for full day to day operating activities of Tyler’s Trees, LLC for the entire Holiday season not limited to the following:


  • Manage team of two (2) key outside operation managers and up to twenty (20) temporary delivery team members which includes scheduling their hours and keeping track of hours worked and trees delivered
    • Recruit, interview & evaluate temporary workers performance
    • Track daily timesheets of temporary work team. Report weekly hours in organized system. Ensure that employees sign off to hours.
  • Primary point of contact between vendors and partners
    • Control vendor relations with suppliers including scheduling tree deliveries Strategic partnerships with existing vendors and partners
  • Daily Logistics and Tasks
    • Proactively develop daily delivery schedule based on incoming orders throughout Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens (up to 50/day)
    • Manage inventory of trees, stands, and skirts to ensure proper numbers for daily and next day deliveries
    • Manage inventory of trees and keep daily count of remaining trees verse future orders to ensure the proper amounts are available
    • Respond to customer service inquiries via email and phone (roughly 25 phone calls a day and 100-125 emails)
  • Retail Stand Oversight
    • Coordinating all tree stand logistics and retail sales which includes daily check-in at stand with staff
    • Track sales and maintain communication with retail staff
    • Design and supply materials for sales
  • Create and manage a project management tracking system
  • Strategize growth opportunities in new product offerings and implement those strategizes

Skills and Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree
  • Ability to handle fast pace environment.  No one day will be similar to the next
  • Ability to handle multiple projects in unison and understand the connectivity between projects
  • 3-5 years experience in operations, events and managing teams of people
  • Comfort with independent working and problem solving
  • Moderate levels of physical labor moving and arranging Christmas trees.  Must be able to lift up to 50lbs
  • Available every day between Thanksgiving and Christmas, including weekends (Time off schedule will be developed closer to start of deliveries)
  • Work from home and be able to quickly move in/around NYC (to/from tree stand, etc)
  • Strong understanding of computers (Word, Powerpoint, Excel) as well as comfort with social media and internet functions
  • Valid driver’s license with comfort for New York City driving conditions

Additional Information

  • All candidates will be required to take a drug test and a background check will be performed
  • Final selected person will be hired as a LLC and appropriate papers should be filed in advance

Salary & Benefits:

  • Salary:  TBD – based on prior experience and work history
  • Bonus:  Subject to individual and company performance
